MC-IRIS Reduce Invasive Species School Grant Program

MC-IRIS is taking applications from schools in Monroe County to help fund removal of Callery pears from their landscaping.
Callery pear is a highly invasive tree commonly used in landscaping. It spreads from landscaping because birds eat the fruits and carry the seeds elsewhere. MC-IRIS has a program to provide replacement native trees for private landowners who agree to remove Callery pear from their landscaping (Reduce Invasive Species Program) and in 2023 added this grant program for schools looking for funding to remove Callery pears from their landscaping. |
